October 27th – November 21st

November 21st
I counted nearly two dozen of these signs, each space 20-40 yards apart, on the road I, clearly, REALLY should not have been walking on

November 19th
This is the moment I see a backroad headed in the same direction as RT. 50 and wonder if I made a grave mistake not taking it

November 19th
I got so many care packages sent to Carson City, they had to wheel them all out in THIS GIANT THING

November 18th
I swear I stood in front of this alternating sign for 5 minutes straight waiting for it to switch back to the "Welcome to Carson City" logo so I could snap a photo

November 18th
My dumbass forgot my backpack, filled with all my winter gear, after taking a piss. Had to Uber back to get it-thank God it was where I left it

November 18th
Dayton and Mound House, Nevada share multiple brothels, a prominent gun shop, and a casino between them. That's Nevada for you. 😛

November 17th
Got sick of RT. 50 trying to make me into roadkill, time to deal with the hassle of pushing Faith through sand

November 15th
My host's in Fallon, Nevada, went out of there way to get Faith a new tire, and then installed it for me! Gah!

November 14th
Picked up an American flag I found on the side of the road to accompany my water bottle and great horned owl feathers

November 13th
You'd think this was the headlights of a sole vehicle. And thinking that, in my shoes, could kill you. Because it's really two cars. One crossing into my lane to illegally pass the other. Oblivious to my presence. Luckily, I'm standing in the shoulder to avoid becoming roadkill.
And luckily, I remembered to look back.

November 13th
Pony Express Trail - I really like seeing remnants of days gone by. I have it so easy compared to the old pioneers.

November 12th
These cows may look innocent, but minutes after taking this photo they descended on the road and completely blocked it. 😛

November 11th
The most beautiful view in Nevada. Though the darkness quickly descending over the valley kind of obscures it, so you'll just have to take my word for it.

November 11th
Samantha, the Nevada coordinator for the ADT who has crossed the state-twice- on horseback, stopped by to visit. And she brought her adorable dog, Juniper

November 10th
Samantha told me about this old stretch of RT. 50 I can use to escape the busy highway, and I'm so glad she did.

November 9th
The plants are so fragile here- I pulled this bushel of thorns straight from the ground, with no effort on my part. Must be due to the low moisture in the soil.

November 9th
LLIIEEEESSSS. RT. 50 is a busy highway. So busy that the "loneliest road in america" tagline is ironic.

November 8th
I had to fight long and hard to conquer this mountain pass, it was insane. By far the worst in Nevada.

November 6th
Tonight makes for another colorful sunset. The sagebrush glows under a soft pink sky in Newark Valley. Though the beauty of the land is undercut by my apprehension about nightfall.

November 6th
75%+ of Nevada is public land, yet the public land is often fenced off for cattle. Which puts Faith & I in a pickle.

November 6th
A pretty shitty place to sleep (actually, it was a lovely spot. Involved shimmying under a barbed wire fence to get there. But still nice.)

November 5th
The zipper on my tents door flap is officially broken. Glad the cold has scared all the bugs away.

Nevada 5th
It was at this moment that I learned that Nevada is the most mountainous state in the continental US.

November 2nd
My new sleeping pad! I can sleep on a rock, no problem. I got it in the hopes it will help with insulation -fingers crossed-

November 1st
I've traded signs about the Smoky Hills Trail for the Pony Express Trail. Seems everywhere I go there's reminders of the pioneers of days past.

October 31st
First time I've ever seen a "No Hitchhiking" sign outright just happens to be the time I need a ride out of town, back to where I left off. Welp.

October 30th
Expected temps tonight are -4F, which means I'm blessed to have four walls and a roof over my head. No time to be picky on the type of shelter.

October 29th
Been a long day. It's going to be -8 degrees tonight. I'm on a dangerous stretch of RT. 50. And I won't make it to a flat plot of land to camp until after dark.

October 29th
Insane snow storm whipped through with 30 mph winds. I managed to find shelter after the first hour. Faith wasn't so lucky.
